RESEARCH THEMES

Professor at the University of Paris South, I am specialized in the fields of paleoclimatology, sedimentology and marine sedimentary geochemistry.

I study rapid variations in paleoclimates as well as their impact on terrestrial surfaces (land-sea erosion and sediment transfer) and ecosystems (cold water corals) on a wide spectrum of scales (ranging from hundreds to millions of years) using marine climatic archives (cores and deep corals).

In recent years I have worked to better understand the distribution of the isotopic composition of Nd (εNd) and concentrations of lanthanides in the oceans. The aim is to constrain the Nd cycle in the ocean and to apply the εNd tracer measured in marine archives (cold water corals and foraminifera) so as to reconstruct the past hydrology of the oceans and the lithogenic contributions of Nd from rivers to the oceans.
